  1. Awesome, go right ahead
  2. Yeah I had to watch it a couple of times first haha. My revised list would be 1.Heat 2.Reservoir Dogs 3.Se7en 4.The Dark Knight 5.Inception
  3. Oh my god have you actually listened to the Lulu shit. What the hell are Metallica thinking. It just sounds like a load of bad Metallica demos, with a drunken old man talking (not singing) over them. I'm willing to give most metal a chance, but for the first time...maybe ever, I had to turn it off, it was making my ears bleed. Hearing James Hetfield scream 'I am the table' was both funny and extremely sad at the same time. After Death Magnetic I thought they were back on track...but then this?
  4. I'd love Megadeth to get it. I think they've been nominated about 10 times and never won. I think they lost last year with Headcrusher. Public Enemy No1 is a solid song so heres hoping. I think its the one thing that Mustaine would secretly love to get.
  5. Can we be more specific. Can you name your favourite Indy? (The Last Crusade) Star Wars? (The Empire Strikes back) Bond? (The Living Daylights)...for me
  6. Curl of the Burl is such a catchy one. I've taken to the slower tracks too, The Hunter and Creature Lives I love and Dry Bone Valley and Blasteroid are pretty cool. Am gonna spend some time listening to Crack the Skye and Blood Mountain. If I'm gonna catch them live, I'd better catch up on their material. I happened to read the other day that Curl of the Burl has been nominated for a Metal Grammy (DT and Megadeth have also been nominated for On the Backs of Angels and Public Enemy No 1). Tough one to call.
  7. I'm unsure how often Opeth have toured the US. I don't know if they're as popular in the States as they are in Europe. They're pretty amazing live, but then thats exactly what you expect. Its mindblowing how tight they sound live. Mikael Akerfeldt is so funny too, his banter with the crowd is hilarious. I have been extremely lucky to have seen them twice (the first time they were supporting DT..awesome). Its only now that I'm starting to realise how lucky I've been to have seen Mikael growling live. I know with Heritage they are definitely going along a different path and that may well continue in the future. When I saw them in November, they didn't play one growling song (A Fair Judgement, Hex Omega, Porcelain Heart etc). I didn't mind because they're still great songs but I fear that I'll never get to see some of my favourites live. The Hunter is a strange album, not in a bad way at all. Its like its heavy but its not heavy lol...what songs stand out for you on it?
  8. You gotta listen to Dramatic Turn of Events man. Its a fantastic album. After Portnoy left, I had doubts, but they've come back stronger than ever. The two tracks I mentioned earlier are well worth a listen. Ticket came to just under £20 which is dirt cheap considering I paid double that for my DT ticket. They're playing a smaller venue in Manchester but I prefer that. Its the same place I saw Opeth at in November. Just the right size. The big arenas are pretty cool, but I prefer smaller gigs. No idea whos supporting them though (nor do I care haha). Even though I have only listened to one and a half of their albums, The Hunter has really stuck on me and I can't stop playing it. It really grows on you and all the tracks are pretty strong and different too. Plus they'll be supporting the new album on this tour so hopefully they'll stick a lot of tracks in the setlist.
  9. Seems we have a couple of songs in common there It was hard not to include Scenes. but Black Clouds has Nightmare to Remember, The Shattered Fortress and Count of Tuscany (3 epic tracks) Systematic Chaos had to be on my list. To have Ministry of Lost Souls and In the Presence of Enemies on the same album is amazingly good. I think Dramatic Turn of Events would also be worthy of a spot too. Bridges in the Sky and Breaking All Illusions are up there with their best in my opinion. ...btw Mastodon ticket = BOUGHT! I gotta see these guys live
  10. I see someone has been watching ITV2 this afternoon
  11. As much as I too love Scenes from a Memory, it doesn't make my list (SHOCK!) I just can't replace any of the albums currently there. Even though Scenes has such as consistent tracklist, Overture 1929, Fatal Tragedy, Home and Finally Free are stunning songs 1. Awake 2. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence 3. Images and Words 4. Systematic Chaos 5. Black Clouds and Silver Linings ...and as for songs....where do you start? once again so many songs that could've made the list but after some thinking, I'm kinda happy with these 1. The Count of Tuscany 2. Home 3. Peruvian Skies 4. The Ministry of Lost Souls 5. Erotomania
  12. Yeh I know what you mean. My list has probably changed already I'm loving The Hunter so much, I'm seriously considering getting tickets to see them in Feb haha. Creature Lives is such a beautiful track. OK man, maybe trickier still. What have you got for DT? (Now this is gonna be hard ) Songs and albums?
  13. I was planning on watching Knowing myself. Crap film I know but I need some cheap CGI entertainment on a Sunday night. And it makes me laugh watching Nicolas Cage sleepwalking through another role
  14. Well you are right to be fair. I think Blackwater Park is their best work, but it just isn't my favourite. I mean I love every song on that album but there are certain songs on Still Life and My Arms, Your Hearse that I like more. So assuming you'd put Blackwater Park top...what would follow? and what Opeth songs stand out as your favourites? And btw mate, I am seriously hooked on The Hunter . Song by song I'm really beginning to love it. The Hunter, Craeture Lives, Dry Bone Valley and The Sparrow are all awesome.
  15. Mastodon- Bedazzled Fingernails
  16. It is a great film. Looks extremely dated now but Rutger Hauer is superb. Especially his speech in the rain at the end. Really powerful. I hear a remake maybe in the pipeline
  17. It was always gonna be Lateralus right I'm gonna dig that out after Mastodon mate. Used to really like some of the tracks on there. Parabola? I think that was the one. Gonna listen to Crack the Skye tomorrow. I have high hopes Ok I'll stick down my Opeth top 5's Albums 1. Morningrise 2. Blackwater Park 3. My Arms, Your Hearse 4. Still Life 5. Ghost Reveries Songs (Now this is tricky as I think all of their songs could make it into my top 5) 1. Advent 2. Deliverance 3. When 4. The Baying of the Hounds 5. The Night and the Silent Water / Under the Weeping Moon (I can't pick one dammit!) Have tried to take songs from different albums. And although it isn't there, The Leper Affinity gets a special mention too. You have no idea how many times I had to change the bottom 3 . No question about the top 2 though. Two of the greatest songs I've ever heard
  18. That's a good start...what about albums and songs too? Listened to The Hunter last night...safe to say I will give Mastodon another chance
  19. It has got some very funny moments. Had some great characters in it and the story kept you entertained, unlike the next two, which were pretty dull
  20. I have been meaning to check out The Hunter and I think I will do if you recommend them. I think the album I have listened too is Leviathan (sp?) but that was only one and a half listens, I should have give it more time maybe. Would you say they sound similar to a particular band or do they sound unique? And also while I'm posting...lets get some top 5's on the table . From the bands we've mentioned, what have you got
  21. Probably not..but then I can't say I don't like them because I have never really given much time to actually listen to them. I suppose they would fall into the progressive category, so I suppose I could like them...and their albums have had very good reviews.
  22. Yeh now you remind me..Rachel Weisz wasn't even in the third was she, which was terrible anyway...And I second that about Oded Fehr, what a cool character he was. What a moment that was when you learned he had survived in the first one. Awesome
  23. The second and third weren't the same without Benny...what a sneaky bastard
  24. Well their later stuff is very good. A lot of people see The Blackening as one of metals all time greatest albums and their new album Unto the Locust has some fantastic tracks too. I would certainly take a listen to the following tracks Halo, I am hell, Locust, Be still and know, Descend the shades of night I will admit that all of their stuff isn't for me but there are some songs that I love
  25. Machine Head were pretty good tonight. Got there late but managed to catch all of their set. Played a lot of new stuff which was cool as I love their new album. Great night overall. Really tired now though. Surprised I got home as quick as I did...avoided the rush completely.
