I have been listening to Steven Wilson's new album Grace for Drowning and I love it. If you like progressive rock and bands like Porcupine Tree or King Crimson, I'm sure you will like this album.

Wow I haven't posted here in a long time but I have some good news. I just purchased Katatonia's latest album Dead End Kings and I thought it was pretty good. Then, I found out that Opeth is coming with Katatonia to my city! And then a few days later Steven Wilson is coming! Dreams really do come true lol
-
The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad are definitely my favorite shows. Both are on AMC

I think Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne piss off the most, such terrible lyrics and overall lack of talent. Not to mention that their voices annoy the hell out of me I've just really been annoyed with popular music in general these days. Seems like it's all about just having a good beat and substance doesn't matter. I think people really need to start actually listening to the music that is being pumped through the radio and maybe they will realize how stupid it is instead of bobbing their heads and singing along mindlessly.

Ah I am jealous! I will have to check and see if they will be coming to the US at all. I know Dream Theater is coming near me sometime this summer so I will keep my eyes open for them!
-
Great stuff! I think I will complete this trilogy and purchase Heritage when I get my next paycheck. I have actually listened to Katatonia and Riverside before - discovered them on Last.fm and of course I also cannot get enough of Akerfeldt's growl as well! I love his versatile abilities to growl and to sing in a somewhat soothing and calmer fashion like on Drag Ropes

I'm looking forward to seeing that film. I've heard nothing but good things about it. I just watched Bill Maher's documentary Religulous again for the 2nd time and it still cracks me up 9/10

I'm already starting to like the sound of the Heritage album from the few tracks i've listened to. Folklore is probably the song I liked the most so far and I am really considering buying this album now.

Classic song right here from 1964 by the Animals. I love my classic rock

Sounds good! Thanks for the info, I will definitely check those songs out and yes, I too am a sucker for technical metal as well. Storm Corrosion is probably still my second favorite track behind Ljudet Innan. I haven't listened to the Heritage album yet so I will have to get my hands on a copy of that as well. I was on Last.fm and I created a Storm Corrosion radio and I came across this gem http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IzLDT73bkk I'm hooked on it, I've been listening to it nonstop

I listened to the Gojira track you posted on the previous page and I really enjoyed it! I love the instrumentals and that's really what I love about death metal bands. I'm really not a fan of the genre unless it has a very technical side to it like Opeth and Gojira fits that category for me. I will have to look into more of their stuff. Any recommendations?

The first game console i ever owned was a Super Nintendo and my God did I love that thing. Super Mario World was probably my favorite game and I just remember playing it any chance I could. Those were great times and games were much simpler back then! Simple, yet they were still difficult compared to the games these days where there's a save point every 5 mintues and you can just load up your last save when you die. These are the systems I have owned, in order: 1. SNES 2. Sega Genesis 3. Playstation 4. Playstation 2 5. Xbox 360 (no longer own it) 6. Playstation 3

haha Dragonforce does seem a bit cheesy but I think Sabaton was kinda cheesy too with their somewhat nerdy/epic lyrics and their lead singer who wears those sunglasses and what seems to be a body armor vest of some sort lol. All in all they were a great, exciting performance. Last week I ordered the CD/Blu Ray 2 disc edition of Storm Corrosion album since I love having the physical copies of albums and the artwork. It really has been growing on me, I must say. After the first full listen through I felt as though I was missing out on something since the album totally took me by surprise. But now as I am listening through it the second time (as I'm typing this post ) it really is growing on me and I am appreciating every track. So far my favorite track is either Storm Corrosion or Ljudet Innan; the instrumentals are really appealing to me and I also like the way the album flows from track to track. All in all, a solid debut album and I looke forward to more quality music from this duo. As for Gorija, I have heard of them but have never listened to them before! I will definitely listen to some of their stuff and let you know!

Thanks again for the Storm Corrosion link! I was just at a small concert two nights ago at a bar in the city and saw 3 bands - 2 death metal and the main act, Sabaton, a power metal band from Sweden (not sure if you have heard of them). Anyway the first band, couldn't remember the name, wasn't bad but not too great. Their lead singer had some good vocals and got the crowd involved alot but the music itself was rather bland. The second band was a local band from Buffalo called Methos and they were also a death metal band. Great vocals and tight guitar playing summed them up well. I really enjoyed their act and they are actually opening fro Trivium at a show in Buffalo soon so I wish them good luck. Then finally Sabaton came on and these guys were cool and seemed like good people. They played an epic show and even though there were only about 40-50 people there, they were able to get everyone on their feet and jumping up and down, raising their fist in the air. Really exciting music! Definitely pumps you up, most of their songs are about famous wars and famous battles like DDay. Definitely a great live act and I would recommend seeing them if they come near you! Tickets were only $15!! (U.S. currency of course )

I believe you took the words right out of my mouth this time. Definitely a morbid and atmospheric type feel to it and yes I do think it will take some time for me to get used to it. I feel with extraordinary music such as this, you have to let it grow on you and you learn to really appreciate its beauty. Anyone can listen to some catchy pop crap and it sounds good to sing along to at first but real music like PT, Opeth, etc takes time to grow on you just like Storm Corrosion will. I think this video has made me even more excited and more eager to get my hands on the album when it comes out!
-
I loveeee Fear of a Blank Planet, possibly PT's best album but it is hard to say. I think In Absentia is up there along with Deadwing as well Ah unfortunately i was unable to catch that Opeth Mastodon tour but i do have some great news!! Storm Corrosion released the music video for their song Drag Ropes today!!!

I'm dying to hear any song ffrom this album but it looks like I will have to wait for the album's release. I guess I can hold off til it comes out, I just know that it is going to be epic

Can't wait for school to be over!! Only a few more weeks and I will be done with college

I recently finished the Red Dead Redemption story and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I haven't enjoyed a video game or played through one entirely in a long while but this game was definitely worth it. The story was captivating and the huge map was awesome with plenty of things to do. I am looking forward to getting the Undead Nightmare game now

For DT I would highly recommend Scenes from a Memory, it is probably my favorite DT album and it has that prog metal/rock style that I love. If you like DT and Opeth then you might be enjoy Porcupine Tree- probably my current favorite band. They are more of a prog rock band but they do have some prog metal elements to their sound. And if you start liking PT then look out for Storm Corrosion- a collaboration between the front men from Opeth and PT!! I can't wait for their debut album to be released!!!

Alright it is good to see another metal fan here! I'm a big Tool fan, they're probably my favorite metal band. When it comes to sludge metal I am a Mastodon fan and I also like the Melvins
-
Recently I bought Pink Floyd's Animals on vinyl and I am loving it. My favorite track off the album:
-
That is awesome my man. I would love to see DT live and to shake John Petrucci's hand!! He's a legend and one of the best metal guitarists around. He seems like a nice guy too. The Mastodon show sounds pretty good too, I also would have expected them to play alot of songs from The Hunter. Great set of shows you got to see, I hope either of these bands comes to my town soon
-
I would love to see Opeth, they're on my list of bands to see sometime in my life. I still want to see Porcupine Tree, Mastodon, and DT as well. The nearest show to me for that Mastodon-Opeth tour is in Toronto, Canada which is only about a 2 hour drive but it is a pain in the ass to cross the border and also the cost of gas isn't cheap. I just wouldn't have enough time or money for it, sadly.
