Man if only I had the time to play games thesedays Id be all over Red Dead Redemption. Used to be an avid gamer...now Ive got a PS3 I barely have time to touch, Modern Warfare 2 which Ive only played TWICE (for 30 mins each time), and I havent even played GTA 4, MGS 4, Bayonnetta, Final Fantasy 12...etc. I think Im gonna cry.

Theres always a ton of awards for the Emmys, its easy to lose track. I'd say Hugh Laurie to win Best Actor in Drama for House, and I'd love True Blood to win some awards.
-
Another thing I hate is Inter Milan drawing 0-0 at half time away to Siena. Knowing Roma are winning 0-2 against Chievo. Knowing Inter will lose the Scudetto to Roma if we dont win, and if Chievo dont make a comeback. Knowing we could end our Treble dream in 45 mins. Knowing it is now.

I thought they changed their name to Footy Lounge?

Wow i was listening to that before lunch today Some more house/trance/progressive lovin':

Iron Man 2 6/10 Didnt really like it. The filmmakers have tried a bit too hard in turning this into some kind of comedy that its detracted from what was good about the first film.
-
Yeh I think they used a track similar to that in Batman Begins too. Its genius. Makes for great pump up music before a football game too. Or better still, when you're behind at half time and want to encourage the players to come out like beasts for the second half.

Haha dont be silly, I would never do that. I rated her quite highly after Sin City, but then she just became too skinny imo, though she's always been the skinny type. I just have a rather peculiar taste in women. When a women gets too fit, like Alba, or maybe Marisa Miller, they dont look real anymore. Its so painful to see so many women these days chasing for that, slim-tight-fit look, when a bit of fat makes them look more natural and feminine imo. I mean take a look at Marisa Miller in this thread, and then take a look at Jennifer Connelly, the former just looks so....architectured.

Molossus - Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard The best track from The Dark Knight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm0rtJenZrQ

Hmm....Jessica Alba was great espcially after Sin City. But somehow she's lost her appeal these days imo.

James Cameron is....a little overrated in my eyes. I mean his perhaps the most financial successful director and his films appeal to everyone. I like his films but these days his being showered with such praise post Avatar, its just getting out of hand. I dont know what he lacks tbh but I just feel he never really tackles unfamiliar territory. Almost all his films are structured in the same manner and the way they build towards climax is identical. In times when everyone is jumping on the 3D bandwagon and Cameron is heralded as the best ever, while someone like Darren Aronofsky, who doesnt get as nearly as much credit as he deserves, is left in the shadows of the mainstream...its overwhelmingly...sad.

Sequels? I thought there was only one - REC 2 (excluding the American remake - Quarantine). Yeh just give Oldboy a shot next time you pop into your local DVD rental store. I'd prefer to remain silent in terms of storyline / genre though as that would spoil it.....and try to refrain yourself from reading the synopsis at the back of the dvd too. All I can say is that its a Korean film and its good. Dont want to raise the expectations too much since some people I know thought it wasnt their cup of tea. It might not be yours but its definitely worth a shot. And yeh, you might not know whats happening for parts of the film, especially the opening 15 minutes, but thats where the fun lies. The confusion of it all. The not knowing.
-
Nah havent seen the sequel REC 2 but I believe its not as good. I'll try catch it when its out on DVD. And its a shame you're not seeing more oriental stuff. Give OLDBOY a shot. You will not be dissappointed. I guarantee you.
-
Yeh I am, I find foreign films have more imagination these days and scripts of the oriental variety tackle some very interesting subjects. But its not just oriental, some of the European films Ive seen recently have been marvelous. Take REC for example, which I thought was one of the most original and viseral horror films ive seen. A fan of oriental cinema yourself?

I must say that is a great list. Except Gus Van Sant's recent work has not lived up to expectations for me and Wes Anderson is a bit of a hit and miss personally. Burton has been too self indulgent in recent times I think. Sweeney Todd was average and its interesting you dont mention the latest Alice in Wonderland. Havent seen it or just plain disapointing? I believe in the latter. Im a big big fan of Big Fish, Batman Returns and Edward Scissorhands though. His earlier works remain classic. My favorite film of Nolan is none other than The Prestige. Its an absolute Masterpiece. If anyone hasnt seen it PLEASE see it NOW. Michael Mann on the other hand was great with Heat, but Miami Vice was just such a let down. Public Enemies I thought was OK at best, but the man can definitely frame a picture. His cinematography is very impressive. Ive become more interested in foreign cinema these days since Hollywood has lost much of its originality. Some foreign directors I love are: Alejandro González Iñárritu: 21 Grams Amores Perros Babel Fernando Meirelles: City of God The Constant Gardener Wong Kar Wai: Chungking Express In The Mood For Love Ashes Of Time 2046 Park Chan Wook: Oldboy (A Must See) Joint Security Area Sympathy for Lady Vengeance Thirst Cristian Mungiu: 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days Occident Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck: The Lives Of Others The Crusader Johnnie To: Election Election 2 The Mission Exiled Running Out Of Time Koen Mortier: Ex Drummer

Thats right! PS3 FTW!!!

Outstanding selections here. Seems like everyone knows their stuff. Hans Zimmer is a genius, loved his work for The Dark Knight but as Ive mentioned in my previous post, Clint Mansell is a phenomenon. This guy's work on Requiem for A Dream and The Fountain (someone pls tell me they've seen this masterpiece?) is breathtaking. Literally. The OST's for both these films escalate the film as a whole. They are as pivotal as the visuals themselves. Requiem for Dream - Lux Aeterna http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKLpJtvzlEI The Fountain - Death is The Road to Awe
-
Oh yes how could I forget Garden State and Closer. Must say Closer still ranks as one of the best love films Ive seen.
-
I live off film soundtracks. Seriously. When you are lucky enough to encounter a good one, then its a mesmerizing experience to say the least. Some of my favourites: Requiem for a Dream by Clint Mansell The Fountain by Clint Mansell again Oldboy (Korean film) by Yeong-wook Jo Snatch by Various Artists.

Vitas - Opera 1 Live @ Kremlin 2002

I must say Andreas you are very lenient in your ratings....easily impressed or just a very nice guy?

Fifa just gets repetitive full stop. Every game feels like a copy of another and theres not enough realism. Must admit though online play for Fifa is much more smoother than PES/Winning Eleven.

My sister saw that and cried...wt is it with girls and Robert Pattinson :hmm:

Ive always wanted to see Berserk but sadly never got the chance. Might check it out next time I decide to shop for some anime. My favourites, off the top of my head, would have to be: Neon Genesis Evangelion YuuYuu Hakusho Tekkaman Blade Various Gundam series.
